Quick answer
No. Transport Fever 3 is a single-player game. It has no online multiplayer and no co-op. Paradox's product page lists its gameplay as "Singleplayer", and Wikipedia gives the mode as single-player.[1][2]
What you get instead
The official feature overview lists these modes:[3]
- Tycoon mode with highly adjustable difficulty
- Sandbox mode for building without restrictions, with strong mod support
- Campaign mode with missions inspired by real historic events
- Map editor for designing your own maps
For a challenge, the store says you can "design ultimate tycoon adversity" and "race to complete contract objectives in the fastest possible time". For a relaxed game, you can lower the difficulty or disable the economy entirely.[3]
Are there AI rival companies?
No, not in tycoon or sandbox. A developer answering on the official Steam forum said "there are no AI opponents in the tycoon/sandbox game". The same reply adds that "there is an opponent in one of the campaign missions", which is scripted mission content, not a free-running rival company.[4] The challenge in normal games comes from difficulty settings, contract objectives, and the needs of towns and industries.[3]
Will multiplayer be added later?
There is no announcement. The official support FAQ explains that the team is keeping its focus on the single-player experience and calls multiplayer the "wrong time to shift focus and split resources".[5]
Can mods add multiplayer?
No official source says so. The modding announcements cover vehicles, buildings, infrastructure and maps, not networked play.[3] See the mods guide.
